Avoid Tattoo Removal – Consider This

Just be absolutely sure before you get inked. In the UK you need be at least 18 to be tattooed. Any tattooist who doesn’t check your age if you’re young, isn’t likely to be one of the most reliable and your welfare will not be of concern to them. So although this may seem a great way to have your tattoo sooner rather than later it may not be the best thing to do.

When  the best time is to get a tattoo is not something a lot of people give consideration to.  The skin gets a lot more wear and tear during the summer with swimming, tanning and sun exposure. All of these elements can hinder a tattoo healing and cuase your new piece of body art to fade. The winter time is really the best time of year unless you intend to keep covered up!

Getting a tattoo when you are not 100% in good health is not a good idea. Your immune system is flagging and your white blood cells need all the help they can get to heal your tattoo (it is art but it is also a wound that needs to heal). Your body will have a hard time with this if it is already busy elsewhere working against a virus and bacteria. Never haggle over the price of a tattoo. It is disrespectful to the artist. If you can’t pay for quality, don’t bother. Remember that this is a piece of art that will be with you for life.

Tattoo costs vary considerably.  When it comes to the quality of your tattoo you get what you pay for. Its advisable to aggree a price upfront.. Most reputable tattoo artists are happy to agree on a price before you go for your tattoo appointment and that way both of you know how much the tattoo will cost. Watch out for the ones who tell you “it depends on how long you are there”. This will allow them to keep you there for as long as they wish, even if you went in for a tiny butterfly tattoo  they could charge you the earth for it.  Also beware of tattoists out there that will ink you cheap. You will regret it and will have to go to a good tattoo artist to cover it up which ultimately will cost you more than it would have done in the first place. Second Guessing Helps Tattoo Removal Business Flourish

A rise in tattoo removal procedures might actually mean a rise in revenue for tattoo parlors. Plenty of people will remove an old tattoo or one they don’t like anymore so that they can get a new one in its place.

Body Electric Tattoo is home to tattoo artist Cary Kandarian.  “Every day is kind of crazy, you know, every tattoo is crazy,” says Kandarian. He just gave 20-year-old Nathan his fifteenth tattoo. It’s a skull with the words Los Angeles.

“I love LA,” says Nathan, “It’s cool, I’ve only been here a couple of weeks and, it’s all good.”

Not every client takes tattooing as casually as Nathan. And lots of folks who have gotten tattoos would like to take them off. The old methods of eliminating tattoos, according to a laser tattoo employee named Kirby, really don’t appear pleasurable.

“People would blast your tattoo off like a bazooka and leave a horrible scar. Other choices for tattoo removal are dermabrasion which is like scrubbing it away with a wire brush, excision which is cutting it off and stitching your skin together again, you tend to have a scar that way.”

Kirby says laser treatment eliminates tattoos without damaging your skin. “If you think of a pigment particle just like a pebble under your skin and your body doesn’t want that pigment particle there because it’s a foreign body but it’s a marble its too large for your body to get rid of. The laser comes in and it operates like a hammer to break that pebble into a million different pieces that are really small, and now they’re small enough for your body to get rid of.”

Last year, the clinic Kirby works at did fourteen thousand tattoo removal treatments. The youngest client was only fourteen and the oldest eighty-seven. The typical person was a woman between eighteen and thirty-four. Whether it was somebody fresh out of jail, a USC undergraduate, or even a customer who actually got their tattoo several hours earlier, Kirby said all of them had something in common – these people wanted a fresh start.

“It’s more than getting a haircut, it’s more than getting your nails done, it’s more than getting a new apartment, it’s a brand new lease on life, it makes you feel like a new person,” says Kirby.  “We’ve seen ex-lovers names, fraternity letters, and the ever-so-trendy barbed wire tattoos every day. Some tattoos, however, are more extreme than others.”

“I’m a big Willie Nelson fan, I’ve been to Lukenback, Texas, and I have seen Willie Nelson’s face on a woman’s private parts where her pubic hair is Willie Nelson’s beard.”

Tattoo-removing Lasers Used to Lift Dirt From Great Works of Art

Daily Mail Reporter:  A laser technique that removes unwanted tattoos has been used to clean several famous works of art, including wall paintings. The technique removes material from a solid surface by vaporising it with a laser beam. Called laser ablation, it can lift dirt without damaging the underlying surface

Long used to preserve stone sculptures and metal artifacts, it has now been applied to the delicate wall paintings of the Sagrestia Vecchia and the Cappella del Manto in Santa Maria della Scala, Italy.

Dr Salvatore Siano and Renzo Salimbeni from the Applied Physics Institute-CNR in Italy, described the results in the journal of the American Chemical Society. Dr Siano said, “This is a more delicate situation than metals or stone as the pigment is much more fragile.”

The pigments of paintings endure laser light better than they do the corrosive and damaging chemicals that have been traditionally used to clean them. Different lasers are used for different paintings because the frequency and the duration of the pulses affect how localised areas are heated.

The technique was also used on masterpieces like Lorenzo Ghiberti’s gilded bronze panels Porta del Paradiso and Donatello’s bronze David. “This was the first time a well recognised masterpiece was treated with laser cleaning,” Dr Siano said.

UFC Removes Dan Hardy’s Tibetan Tattoo to Please Chinese Dictatorship Government

While promoting this fight, UFC president Dana White ordered Dan ‘The Outlaw’ Hardy’s tattoo to be “wiped clean” from all the promo materials. The tattoo is in Tibetan. A Tibetan prayer: “Om Mani Padme Hum”. White said – “I’m trying to get into China. I don’t need anti-Chinese government stuff on my fighters” SHAME ON UFC.

President Dana White isn’t exactly going to win any PC awards anytime soon. The notorious spokesman for the rapidly-growing full contact martial arts empire is known for his tendency to speak first and think later. In one famously public tirade, White went ballistic on journalist Lorretta Hunt, calling her a “bitch” and a “moron” and labeling one of her sources both a derogatory term for homosexual and a derogatory term for female genitalia, respectively.

Apparently however, White’s predilection for free expression is not something that he values in those who work for him. Hence his decision to remove welterweight contender Dan Hardy’s Tibetan language tattoo from all promotions for the upcoming UFC 111 fight, in order to not offend the Chinese government. “I’m trying to get into China. I don’t need anti-Chinese government stuff on my fighters” said White, eloquent as always.

In India, Your Tattoo Can Be Removed Cheaply

Press Trust Of India – New Delhi: When Sonia Mehta got her boyfriend’s name inked on her right arm two-years ago, little did she know that the tattoo she wished to treasure lifelong will soon become a nightmare.

She now wants to get rid of the tattoo desperately since her boyfriend dumped her in December last, but the high cost of the removal — nearly Rs 50,000 to 80,000 — is much beyond her pocket and Mehta (name changed) is forced to live with the unwanted bodywork.

But what she missed out is that the help is at hand. A new laser treatment called ‘Q-switched Nd-YAG laser’, which has been recently introduced at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) in Delhi, charges only Rs 6,000 for tattoo removal.

“We are the first in Delhi to use Q-switched laser treatment, which is cosmetically superior to older destructive modalities, and it costs just Rs 1,000 per sitting,” Said Dr H K Kar, HoD Dermatology, RML Hospital.

“As only six sittings are needed for complete treatment, the total cost of the tattoo removal is only Rs 6,000, which is a meagre amount as compared to that of other hospitals, especially the private ones, which charge nearly Rs 8,000 to 9,000 per sitting,” Dr Kar said, adding they also take more sittings.

With the growing trend of tattooing in the country where the amazing body art is smiting not only the youngsters but also even older people slowly, the tattoo removal business is also gaining momentum.

“The simple fact is that people have changes of heart. Nowadays before getting a tattoo, the first thing youngsters ask is, will I be able to remove it, thus the techniques to remove these items are becoming more and more in demand,” said Suhash Kothari, who runs a tattoo parlour in the city.

50 Cent wants to further his career in the film industry. The rapper is committed to removing some of his tattoos for an upcoming role in the film “Things Fall Apart”, which he co-wrote and produced.

“It cuts down on the amount of makeup time” says Curtis James Jackson III, better known by his stage name 50 Cent. And don’t expect him to get rid of all his ink. His arms may be tattoo free, but according to Fif, he’ll keep his trademark “50 Cent” back tattoo.

Tattoo Removal is Now a Reality

Speaking to Dr. MS Venkatesh, Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeon, Jayanagar, 2nd Block, who said “There are various ways of removing a tattoo. Since I am a surgeon, my treatment is ambiguous. Though the tattoo will not vanish completely, it will leave some kind of a small mark which is proportionate to the design of the tattoo”. He explained that the normal skin near the tattooed skin will be expanded using special devices called the tissue expander which inserts a balloon under the normal skin. The skin would expand, and the expanded skin is overlapped with the tattooed skin. He said that this sort of treatment is possible only with small and medium sized tattoos. But, if the tattoo is large it is impossible to do any kind of expansion over it.

When asked if the treatment was painful in nature the doctor said, “Any cosmetic surgery will have certain amount of pain. But most of the time pain is subjective and it depends upon the person who is undergoing through the treatment.” One must keep in mind that the cost of the expander is Rs.50, 000 per session and can be quite expensive for the entire treatment including the antibiotics, anesthetic and other medicines charges. It can take a total of 6-8 weeks for the scar to mature. Coloured tattoos cannot be removed with this method.

The other option of getting rid of tattoos is through laser treatment. The system gives non-invasive advantages of laser treatment; plus better results than any other methods on the market. The Laser treatments use the body’s own defense mechanisms to remove the pigment. When the tattoo was applied, one’s body encapsulated the ink in the skin’s collagen. Laser energy breaks up the ink pigment into smaller particles hence removing the tattoo over a period of weeks. Larger particles may require several treatments, but the tattoo gradually fades leaving a vague impression on the skin. The treatment is relatively cheaper and is done in various clinics across the city.

Speaking to Ajith Menon, an IT professional in Jaynagar who has a dragon tattoo across his forearm said, “I got the tattoo done when I was 21, and I’ve had it for the last two years now. I don’t regret it, and I don’t think I would spend more money to get rid of it. Tattoos are not a joke; you take them to your grave. If your family is not open to you having one, then you shouldn’t subject yourself to the pain so that you have to subject yourself to more pain to remove it.”
